Happy New Year!

Now that all the treats are gone, everyone is back at school and work, and I have ignored my lingering Christmas decorations for an entire week, I figured it was time to wish everyone a Happy New Year!

2023 lays before us like a clean slate, like a new blank calendar ready to be filled in.

A few years ago, I mentioned that I choose a word for the year rather than a lengthy list of goals and resolutions. Don't get me wrong, I still have a handful of things I would like to improve and focus on this year, but more so, I would like this year to be filled with new experiences. Therefore, adventures is my word.

I want this new year to be filled with more adventures. Some will be big, some will be small, some will be challenging, and some will be easy, but hopefully, all of them will be worthwhile and memorable.

Here are my "rules" for what constitutes an adventure:

  1. It is out of the ordinary

  2. It is often unexpected

  3. It may put us outside our comfort zone

  4. It is generally fun/enjoyable

  5. It is memorable

Our first adventure took place today as we packed lunch and snacks and headed to Austin for the afternoon to see the capitol building and explore the grounds. The kids had never been, and my husband and I went so many years ago that we might as well say we have never been either. It was a whirlwind mini-trip, but it was definitely still an adventure, and we all had a great time. Plus the weather was perfect!!

Here is to a year filled with all kinds of big and small adventures!

What kind of adventures awaits you in 2023?
